Each year one issue is devoted to a particular theme. This year, the special issue (Vol.33 No.2, 2005) will focus on women in educational leadership. The special issue last year (Vol.32 No.2, 2004) focused on understanding and responding ethically to the dilemmas of school-based leadership. The other special issues in the series have covered the making of secondary school principals in selected small islands (Vol.31 No.2, 2003), education management in Africa (Vol.30 No.3, 2002) and international perspectives on the professional development of school leaders (Vol.29 No.2, 2001).
